A Chance in Climate in Chester County
In January 2008, seventy members of the Greenhouse Gas Task Force met came together for a kick off-meeting . Steve Fromnick, who chairs the oversight committee, gave a presentation of the goals of the Task Force and its various committees.
Just to mention a few of the committees which we signed up for at the end of the meeting:
- Energy
- Carbon Foot Print
- Outreach
- Information
- Agriculture and Forestry
- Transportation
- Waste/recycling
In the Outreach committee we are working on a podcast/video that can be presented to municipalities/communities. The podcast describes in personable and understandable terms what the goal of the Task Force is, what some of the committees are doing, what they hope to accomplish and how they will accomplish it. We are also working on a press release describing the Task Force. In addition to informing the public we will keep the steering committee informed and the commissioners.
The Resource and Information committee has already put together a website so that both the public, the committees and the commissioners can be informed of what information and resources we have put together. We are currently working on a project that will outline the pros of several other greenhouse gas reduction plans across the United States. Several excellent plans have been produced by cities such as Denver, Colo., Portland, Oregon, and counties such as Montgomery County, PA.
